Video Conferencing Hints and Tips Video Transcript
I’m Steve Sida, the Global Product Manager for Video Collaboration at ACT, and I am glad to say that video conferencing has arrived. The technology has matured to a point now where you can feel comfortable that if you go to video conferencing for your conferencing or for your collaboration needs, you are going to realize a lot of benefits.
A few hints and tips:
Bright colors can be a little bit distracting when on video or busy patterns, so if you have something a little bit more neutral, that works really well. The shirt I am wearing today is probably a good example of something that would work really well over video.
Becoming familiar with the technology, you don’t need to know a lot about video, especially when using the services from ACT. What you need to know is on the remote. We’re going to establish the connection so that all you will need to do is go in the room, be able to adjust the camera so that it is pointing in the proper direction, being able to maybe zoom the camera in or out and adjust the volume. So become comfortable and knowledgeable around the system that you are going to be using.
Relax within the video conferencing environment. This isn’t a significant event. This is not like you are on television now. Act natural, relax, collaborate, talk, argue, debate. You can do that because you can read people, see where things are going and be as natural and relaxed as possible. Envision the video conference experience as really just a virtual conference room, where you are meeting with your peers, and you are collaborating and you are working through business issues.
Again, the technology has evolved to the point now where it’s not going to be problematic, it’s going to start on time, and to the extent that you are familiar with your system, it really is just as simple as being in that virtual conference room.
